Why A Blog?

I’ve wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember. The problem was, I didn’t know what I wanted to write about. I’ve written my fair share of fanfiction and started a lot of fictional stories, but nothing ever felt like my niche. When I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and generalized anxiety disorder (in that order) I wanted to share what I’ve learned and am still learning on my journey to love and accept myself. When I was growing up, I never had the words for my feelings. Come with me on this journey to find those words!

Where did the name come from?

Back in 2020, I was experiencing the worst anxiety I’ve ever had. Eventually I reached out to a therapist, who I still talk to today. She recommended a workbook called Anxiety, Phobias, & Panic by Reneau Z. Peurifoy. The book has activities at the end of every chapter, and one of them was writing affirmations. One of those was “I can function while anxious.” I thought this sentiment was a great reminder.
